A Farewell Weekend

Our dear friend, Jeffrey, is being deployed this next week for one long year in Afghanistan. We wanted one last fun weekend with him before he left. Since it is already so hot, it was an easy decision as to where we would spend our weekend...SCHLITTERBAHN! I have always wanted to go and this was the perfect reason to make the trip!
We left Saturday afternoon when I got off and made the drive down to New Braunfels. We met Jeffrey and Leigh Ann at our hotel around 7. None of us had dinner so we decided that since we were only about 30 min away from San Antonio, we would go to the Riverwalk for dinner.
Until then, Brad had never seen the Alamo!! So, after 24 1/2 years, he is now a real Texan!
There were groups of people just standing around waiting for someone to say, "Would you like us to take your picture?" Thankfully it didn't take long for us to connect with another group in a "we will take yours if you take ours" exchange!

We then made our way past the Alamo to the actual Riverwalk. It was a little warm but there was a nice breeze so we to eat on the patio of Cafe Ole'. Mmmm, it was yummy!!
After our dinner we walked around and looked at some of the sights that you could still see night.
We woke up bright and early on Sunday morning. After a quick breakfast at McDonald's we were ready for a fun day in the sun! We got to Schlitterbahn before it opened, lathered up the sun screen and waited.
This was one of the best water parks I have ever been to! It definitely lives up to all the hype!
The weekend was a fast one, but I couldn't think of a better way to spend our last weekend with Jeffrey before he leaves!
