The Survival Race

Back in January, I found an offer on Groupon for the Survival Race mud run. It was cheap and only about 18 miles away from us...how could I say no. I asked Shannon to go with me. After much hesitation on her part, and lots of begging on my part, she said yes!
All week leading up to the race, we realized what exactly was going to be asked of us and got scared! But, we arrived yesterday ready to get dirty.
This is our before picture...
...and this is our after picture.

Shannon wore tights, I however didn't and, well, you can see just how muddy we actually got!
The Survival Race, was a 5k that involved several obstacles. We ran through cold water, climbed muddy hills, jumped over fire, climbed over a net wall, crawled through neck high mud...just to name a few! The whole time I wondered if I would look back and think, "that was fun!". Now that I am blogging about it, I am glad we did it and it was a lot of fun.

We so were muddy that we had to somehow clean ourselves off before we got in the car. They had outdoor "showers" set up but the line was SO long and we didn't feel like waiting so we just wiped off what we could and changed our clothes, using this wonderful make shift changing room...hey, it served its purpose well!
Thanks for joining me Shan!
Maybe the Warrior Dash is in our future...

1. We will work on your ability to say no.

2. The make shift changing area is good untill someone drops the towel and everyone sees my bare butt!

3. I admit, it was fun!

Not sure that I like the idea of:
A. running that far
B. paint being sprayed
C. getting mud all over me

Guess I won't ever get to participate bond with you in this way!
