Let me start off by saying, I have failed as a blogger. Not only is it January 5, and I am just now posting NYE, but I also forgot my camera on New Years Day so there will not be a post about that fun day :(
Now, that that is done...
Friday when I got off work, we headed to Ft Hood. This has been our tradition for the past two years. Even though Jeffrey is deployed, we still planned on celebrating in the same way.
Saturday morning we got up and headed to Austin where we spent all day. We shopped and then decided, on a whim, to visit the Capitol since Brad has never been. I didn't take my camera because I didn't think I'd need it, again, blog failure!
All the offices were closed, but Brad at least got to see the beautiful structure of the building.
Normally at midnight we go up the street for biscuits and gravy at Whataburger. But, without Jeffrey, it just didn't seem right. So we went a different route, and got a box of Cinnabon cinnamon rolls. And of course wine for the non pregos and sparkling grape juice for me...sigh!
We rented a couple of movies to watch until midnight rolled around. Since we were all exhausted from our long day, we needed some sugar to help us stay awake. (Have no fear, most of this candy was still waiting to be opened Monday when we left!)
After our first movie, Crazy Stupid Love, was over, it was about 5 minutes until midnight. We got our drinks poured and toasted the New Year in.
Like always, I like to reflect over the past year...
In 2011, we had sadness and heartbreak:
My Pawpaw passed away.
Jeffrey deployed for a year long deployment in Afghanistan.
Josh took a job that took him away from us for long periods of time.
We also suffered the loss of my wonderful father-in-law, Dale.
We miss all of the people dearly...
But, not all of 2011 was sad, we also had some very happy times:
I think the most exciting news (to us anyways) is that Brad and I found out we are expecting our first baby and its a girl!
We bought a HOUSE!
We spent a week in Disney World with our family, and met some of my parents friends while we were there :)
The Rangers once again made it to the World Series and had the best record in franchise history (I choose to leave that happiness at that and not say the outcome!).
Well, so long 2011....I can't to see what 2012 has in store for the Killough Family!
