Vacation Day 4 - Part 1

Today's post will be broken into morning and afternoon because, there are a lot of pictures.

We all got up early and left the house around 8:20. Our destination today was the summit of  the great Pikes Peak. We had decided to catch the first "Cog" of the morning.
The scenery up the mountain was gorgeous!
The higher we got, the less I could look out the window. My fear of heights was taking over. But, thanks to Leigh Ann, I still got wonderful pictures!
The ride up took about an hour and ten minutes. I was worried about Zoey because she had a lap seat and there wasn't much room period. She showed me, yet again, that I don't give her enough credit! She did great!
The summit of Pikes Peak is 14,115ft in elevation.
The temperature was 29 degrees.
The wind chill was 14.
At the summit there is a store with souvenirs, hot chocolate, donuts, other snacks and beverages.
It was so windy and so cold, but so worth it! The view is amazing!!!

Poor Zoey was so cold, so she cuddled up to me under a blanket.

We loaded back up in the cog and headed back down the mountain. Zoey was asleep within minutes, literally. She slept almost the whole trip back down.
On the way down, I was able to actually look out the window and enjoy the views. It really is spectacular!
