Whelp, the day of allergy testing arrived. Her appointment was this morning at 9am. I hadn't been dreading it, I guess because I hadn't really put much thought in to what they were actually going to do to her, or how it would affect her.
The nurse was super nice though and explained how everything was going to work. The hardest part was having to hold her down while the nurse scratched her back, making the allergens get up under her skin.
We had to keep Zoey in the laying position while the spots dried...we tried "zooming" her around the room like an airplane, anything to make her stop crying.
It didn't work!
Please excuse the booger! Her nose runs so bad when she has a reaction, plus there was a LOT of crying going on!
After 10min of stomach laying, she was finally able to sit up. You can obviously see that there were two places, other than the control, that she had a reaction to.
Yes, one of them is dog! ! She's been around Hemi and Ipo since we brought her home from the hospital, and has never had any sort of reaction...not even any sneezing! Ipo would lay next to her and NOTHING. But all is good! No worries! Dr. Silvers said that it wasn't bad and as long as we kept the dogs out of her room and off her stuff, we didn't need to get rid of them! Talk about relief!
Even though she was able to sit up, she was still uncomfortable!
They gave us a plastic stick type thing that we could scratch around the spots with and as long as we did that, she was...somewhat content.
If we stopped though, it resulted in screaming and crying. It was AWFUL! We packed her favorite toys, let her play with stuff we wouldn't usually, anything to make her happy...
Finally after 20min, the nurse came back in, wiped her back off, cleaned it with alcohol, put anti-itch cream on it, and gave her some Zyrtec. She was finally able to calm down and eventually fell asleep.
Dr. Silvers came in and talked to us about it all. He said the egg allergy was the worst. This test, however, didn't tell us if it was just egg by itself or if it was cooked egg also. Those tests can't be done until she's a little older. So, for a whole year, she can't have any egg whatsoever. I see a lot of label reading in my future!
In the end, we walked away with 3 prescriptions and an appointment in 6months for a check up with her Eczema. Talk about a LONG, hard morning!
I am so glad it's over though...

Poor tiny baby. At least she looks cute with her crying face. Whew about no cat allergies ;)
Even though it shouldn't be funny, the pic of you holding her and smiling while she's screaming made me SALTS ;-)
What a relief that you don't have to find a new home for you pups! Sad Zoey had to go through that but at least now you know.
Poor sweet baby! Glad you can keep your pups!
On another note, and for future reference, they are able to do allergy testing from a single blood draw. That is how Thomas was tested when he was that age...
